What we accept
-
Copper cable that comes out with a wider equipment retirement, with the owner's sign-off.
-
Cable your electrician has already disconnected.
-
Coils or tied bundles, kept apart from other metal and equipment.
-
Tell us about oil, attached parts or sharp ends. We don't take live or unidentified cable.
-
No minimum. The cable is quoted as part of the wider job.
Get the electrical work done first
Your electrician isolates and disconnects the cable. Never cut wiring you can't identify just to get it ready for us. A pile of cable next to a switchboard doesn't mean the system is safe.
Copper wiring collection works best when it is listed with the rest of the equipment. Tell us whether the cable is already off the wall, still attached to equipment, or still needs an electrician. Mention any oil or chemical contact.
How to pack it
Tie long lengths into coils and put short pieces in a bin or bag. Keep ends off walkways. Don't strip or burn the insulation.
Send a photo of the whole lot and the route to the loading area. Give us a rough bundle count or weight, and tell us if a forklift is on site for heavy reels or stillages.
Arrange the collection
Collection across metropolitan Melbourne, with delivery to our yard available by arrangement for business loads.
Copper cable comes through our equipment retirement service. We collect it with the rest of the job, so please don't bring it to the yard unannounced.
Related pages: loose IT leads, motors and transformers and metal from retired equipment. Our A to Z list covers everything else. Tell us what you've got, and say whether the electrical work is done.
