X-ray film recycling: what we collect

Old X-ray films from medical, dental, vet and radiology practices, hospital archives and records stores. Films can stay in their envelopes.

The films stay sealed from pickup to destruction. You get written confirmation once the films are destroyed. See secure destruction.

Old film has a silver coating. After destruction the silver is taken out, so the film doesn't go to landfill.

Box or bag them, seal them, and tell us the rough count and your location. Drives and discs go with data-bearing devices.

Collection across metropolitan Melbourne, with delivery to our yard available by arrangement for business loads.

Are old X-rays treated as patient records?

Yes. Films carry patient names and images, so they stay sealed from collection until they are destroyed.

How much film do you take?

Archive boxes and practice clear-outs, from a few boxes up. A single envelope is better taken to your council's service.

Do you take the processing chemicals?

No. Fixer and developer are liquids that need a licensed chemical service. This page covers the films only.
